I want to finish our basement with a 3 piece bath, but there is only a 2 piece rough-in. What hoops am I looking at to add a shower?

By 3 piece do you mean toilet, sink and tub or shower? How large are each of the rough ins?

Hi Benny...

Sounds like you've been roughed in for a toilet and a sink... right?

If you are absolutely sure you don't have a covered box in the floor with the tub/shower drain then you can certainly add the shower drain... couple options available.

You can chip out the concrete floor and connect into the SINK DRAIN underground. In this way, by connecting into the sink drain you can use the SINK VENT to vent the shower drain... saving time and money!

Another option, that I don't usually recommend when you have a gravity drain under the floor like you have is to install a SANISHOWER... a macerating sewage pump system.

In my opinion, the only way to go is to cut into the slab and do it right! I have an older diagram that shows wet venting a tub/shower that I posted below... you would be cutting into the sink drain as well... if possible.

The rough in is for toilet and sink. If I understand your post, I can tie the shower drain into the sink stack.

Hi Benny... depends on the "SKIN" you are using. If you are using the old skin you should see a button that says "GO ADVANCED" at the posting box below... click on that and then in the new window that pops up click on "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS" and proceed as directed in the next pop-up window.

If you are using the new "GO" skin then I don't know how to post in this skin and can't help you much. Here, I would recommend that you pop over to the FORUM HELP section of the site and ask for help there... ;)

Also, to answer your question, YES, I was suggesting that you can sut into the sink drain for the shower... use the sink vent as the shower vent, but ONLY if WET VENTING is allowed in your area.

I will have to look into 'Wet Venting'..
There is nothing built just yet, but this is my intended layout.

Hi Benny...

Wet venting won't work here. That's OK, too... just need to install a new wye fitting and new vent for the shower is all.

I'm glad to draw a little something up if you want, but first, tell me if there are any fixtures on that cast iron stack from above (kitchen, bathrrom, etc.) or is that a vent stack? Let me know, OK?
