    Can I rent one room of my townhouse on my H1B visa status?
    We have an FHA loan and took the first time home buyers credit last year. Does that complicate matters?

    Rent the room. The IRS does not even want you to report such rentals because you cannot claim any LOSS from such rentals and, after expenses, it is rare that the rental will show a profit.
