    Why won't my council house me
    I'm a 43 year old woman and sharing a room with my 46 yearold brother and my council informed me to get pregnant then I be made priority for house is this legal

    It looks to me that they are saying they give a priority to pregnant people. It would depend in part on
    • their funding sources;
    • what conditions are placed upon such funding;
    • etc., but

    This council you write of: is it one of these? Where, exactly?

    I was told by my council which is argyll and bute that I would be made priority but as I was not a single mother or pregnant or had a drink problem I was not

    I don't completely understand the council system in the UK. But, from what little I understand they provide public housing among other things. They have rules that they go by in deciding who to award housing to. Those rules govern who is given priority for the limited housing they have.

    I doubt if someone at the council actually told you to get pregnant. They probably told you, possibly flippantly, that if you want your own place, get pregnant because there single mothers get priority.

    Is all housing controlled by the council or are their other options available?

    No there are no other options and as for flippantly sayins so she had no right to say it she does not no my circumstaces which has nothing to do with her whether I can have a baby or not its disgraceful in this day and age why I'm I not priority
