    I lost my job over a year ago and the IRS is asking for my recipts from 2008,
    The problem is that I had to move to a less expencive home and all of my records were lost when we were evicted. What do I need to do?

    If you used your credit cards, contact the credit card companies to get the statements for the time of year in question.

    Then try to reconstruct the costs from memory. If you explain the situation to the IRS, they likely WILL accept your "memory" receipts at face value UNLESS those expenses are unusual.
