IRS. Benefits and back taxes on a closed business.
I was just approved for social security disability benefits after 6 yrs. Of trying. I have not received any money yet. My husbands business closed 2 yrs. Ago oweing the IRS taxes exceding 100.0000. We are paying a small monthly fee to try to pay them back. When I receive my benefits can they take this from me or take a monthly fee from me? I did not work in the business or have anything to do with it. We are still married.

They MAY try, which means you will have to rebut the effort by showing you had NOTHING to do with the business.

If you file jointly, you need to submit the Innocent Spouse form.
