    Concentration of the emulsion
Hello, I would like to know how is it possible to determine the concentration of the emulsion? I know what the ingredients are as well as what the concentration of the final product should be. Let's say I made 50% emulsion, is there any way to prove that it is exactly 50% and not less or more? Thank you.

I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly, but if you're looking for the concentration of the emulsion and 50% means 50% by mass, then the mass of the emulsion only (without water) divided by the mass of water added must give 50% (that is half) or the mass of water should be twice the mass of the dry emulsion.

Could you elaborate on your question more?

Here'e how I do it. Fold a piece of aluminum foil in quarters. Put a couple of milliliters of emulsion into the folded foil. (This keeps the emulsion from evaporating). Weigh the foil and emulsion. Smear the emulsion over the surface of the foil and then open it so the water can evaporate. When it has dried to your satisfaction weigh the remaining polymer and you can then determine the solids content. You need a thin layer of emulsion for a reasonable eveporation rate, but you must keep evaporation to a minimum to weigh the emulsion.

Thank you very much for you help. That is what I actually did, I put 10g of my emulsion into petri dish and left it in the oven to dry over weekend at 30C. Today I re-weighted it and calculated the solids content, got exactly what I needed. Thanks again.
