    How much snow do I need to clear around the gas exhaust pipe?
    Huge snowfall covered exhaust pipe... can't get to the pipe by walking (snow too deep)... cleared about 2-3 inches around and in front of the pipe, but still snow higher than the pipe 3 beyond clearing... is that o.k.

    What you think about putting a 90 on the end of pipe and about a foot of pipe putting the opening farther above the outlet

    If you have a side exhaust pipe then you likely have a similar looking fresh air intake pipe, right? The exhaust will likely clear itself a hole is short order but a covered intake will shut down many furnaces
