HELP ME! What is going on with my Taxes?
My wife & I made a total of $95,000 this year. For the second year in a row we owe almost $1,500 to the government. We both file jointly, claiming 0. We have no kids. Is this right? My wife also has $50.00 extra twice a month taken from her check to help out, and yet this year we owe more! Why is this? My wife works 2 jobs, one job she made $54,000 the other $7,900, and I made $32,000 this year. I just don't understand what were doing wrong. Help me please anybody!

The reason you owe is simple: multiple jobs only withhold enough income to cover taxes owed on the income earned in THAT job, while your total income gets taxed on a progressive (the more you make, the higher the tax).

You may want to model your return to see if filing separately makes sense.
