    I have a lennox chp20h 311 1p serial # 569410357 I need to know if the compressor is suppose to be running while the unit is in heating mode ?

    Yes if the unit is a heat pump under most normal circumstances. Many different items can factor in here like an outdoor cutoff thermostat etc.
