Our maytag wide by side is not cooling - freezer side is working fine. Seems to be a common problem with these based on the posts. Any ideas? Have called repair center - not open until Monday.

At the bottom of this page you should see a listing of similar questions and answers. On 1-27-07 Guru-baba post the same problem. Applman responded with agreat list of answers. There is one other thing you might try if you put your food on ice easewhere. Open both doors, unplug the frig/freezer and direct a fan into the frig/freezer. Let the fan run for an hour or two. I am guesssing you will find several cups of water draining to the bottom of the frig. In my case, the cooling coils in the back of frig frosted over and block the air flow completely.

My wide by side issue turned out to be a defrost control board - just like what was posted in the blog for Maytag wide by side. On-line I see the part costs $55. I paid my repair guy $64 for the part and $84 for labor which amounted to removing a few screws. Hopefully we won't run into this again!

There have been many issues with those side by sides not cooling. Maybe a design flaw but now you know how to do your own repair.
