Making Him Pay
My soon to be ex husband left almost two years ago & I haven't heard from him since, I was pregnant at the time & he didn't contact me after he left, for one his girlfriend told him to cut all ties with me, so I didn't put him on my sons birth certificate, & I spoke to his mother & she said according to him the only way we'll ever be divorced is if I paid for it, is there a way I can make him pay since he doesn't pay child support, can I get him for abandonment? Or should I just stick with my lawyer & get it over with letting the lawyer put it in the paper & such? I'm so lost on what to do because I really don't have the money to pay for everything myself.

I have no idea what the true story is. In your other post you are married to someone else who wants to adopt your child and you have no idea where the birth father is.
So which is it - only one story can be true.

Comment on JudyKayTee's post
I didn't know I was still married to him until I went to get my marriage certificate with the man I plan on marrying, I posted the last thread a week before our planned marriage, thinking nothing would have gone wrong like this.

To make it longer, I know nothing of the court systems & the lawyer told me everything was finished, not knowing he didn't sign the divorce papers. Now the courts are saying my previous divorce papers are not valid & that I have to redo the whole process again. I know who the father is, just haven't heard or seen from him since I was pregnant, my lawyer is the one who told me that I didn't have to put him on the birth certificate therefore I didn't. Now I have a huge mess to clean up with no money, that is why I was wondering if there was a way I could make him pay for it. Since I am now getting ready for a new child & taking care of my son without having any support from my ex.

To be brutally honest your story is full of holes.
Yes, you need an Attorney to get to the bottom of the story and assist you in the divorce. Why an Attorney would tell you not to list your husband on your child's birth certificate makes no sense to me - and it won't to the Court when you file for support, either.
In Florida if you are married when a child is born that husband is the legal father of the child. The Attorney's advice makes no sense.
