Air could be pushing through the seal between the toilet and the flange beneath it. To check without pulling the toilet, run the shower and put soapy water around the base of the toilet, only where it meets the floor.look for bubble to form from air pushing out. Same technique as finding a leak in a tire or inflatable mattress. Don't soak the floor and create a slipping hazard. After a few minutes, flush the toilet and see if this also creates bubbles or in some cases... sucks bubbles under the toilet. Also look to see if the toilet is gurgling/burping and that the sink in the bathroom has water in the trap (look down the drain with a flashlight). Sometimes this situation is a symptom of a bigger issue, such as a clogging drain. If you have to pull and reset the toilet with a new wax ring, flush plenty of water down through the flange with a garden hose to be sure the water isn't backing up. Hope this gets you started in the right direction.

2nd story bath 1st floor venting [ 2 Answers ]

Hello, I added a new 2nd story full bath. I had a 3 inch pipe main drain coming out of the ground behind my laundy room. On the side the laundry drains into this pipe with a trap. On the top was a 2 in pipe that was the vent. I took this vent out and made it 3 inch all the way up to the top...

Our ceiling has developed a swelling or bubble in the ceiling and when touched-it literally fell apart and created a hole.
