    How much income can you earn without filing taxes
    My 18 year old son made $4000 in 2010, does he have to file MA state taxes and federal? I also want to add that we claim him as a dependent on our tax returns.

    For sure, he has to file a federal return, though he may owe NO taxes. He probably also has to file a Massachusetts return as well.
