Natural Blonde needs help removing DARK color
So I am a natural golden blonde who thought it would be a good idea for the new year to change my hair. My cousin is a pro and it turned out a really crappy version of Kate Walsh's red and it didn't suit. My mom and I tried an ash blonde hoping it would tone the red. Now I have a copper, brown, and red colored head and I just want my blonde back what do I do?? I don't want my hair to fall out and I am a single mom (trying to get a guy mind you, which is impossible with this hair) I can't afford a salon and I don't want to do anything to make it fall out. And NO I can't wait for it to grow out it looks horrible. Someone help me and I promise from here on out to love and appreciate what I already had. Thanks!

As someone who has been coloring my hair for over 15 years, I've suffered many coloring mishaps. Stay away from smoothing shampoos and those for color treated hair as they will seal the hair cuticle to retain the color. Dawn dishwashing detergent will help strip color from the hair and tone it down a bit but it is incredibly drying and it turned my hair into a mess of knots. Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner are not for color treated hair and most salons will not use it on color treated hair because it does strip the color. On the plus side, the tea tree has many properties to help with the damage of the processing its already experienced recently. If it were me (and it has been many times), I would go with the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner and next time you want to try a color change (subtle and on a budget), try a semi-permanent that lasts a couple of shampoos before committing to a permanent color.
