Clothing colors that go with brown hair/eyes
I'm writing a book and the main character has medium-length, layered, curly mouse brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her skin is pale (Caucasion). However, I have no sense of fashion or style whatsoever and only know what clothing colors go well with auburn hair and blue eyes (my colors) or blond hair and blue eyes (my mom's colors). Are there any fashion experts that can give my specific colors that will be good for my character?

Also, the main guy has short blond hair and bright green eyes. He's also Caucasian. What colors would work on him?

Well keep their personalities in perspective. What hints can you gather from their passions or character traits? Is your character one to dive into style or play it casual and comfortable? Do they hide under layers of clothes? Are they active all the time? Where do they live that would reinforce their style?

Just some questions to get you started. But as far as colors go... you could go with earth tones and wander towards the warmer hues such as red and purples.

Nikki is an outgoing sixteen year old with a rebellious spirit and a long-standing argument with her mother. She is a junior ballet assistant teacher and does her own thing. She's probably the 'dive into style' type, except she's one of those teenagers with a different idea of style. Anything her mother disapproves of, and anything showy, she'll wear. Matt is 24 and is attending college to be a music teacher. He lives with his brother, sister-in-law, and his young niece and works at the post office. He's probably the 'casual and comfortable' one. He's a little more mature than most people his age.

Wow there's a lot in character dynamic. If you don't mind... what is your story about? Small description without revealing too many details?

Nikki sounds athletic and must be talented to have quite the job as an assistant teacher at her age. Does she earn a salary from it? It makes sense that her position towards her mother can influence all her actions even down to dress style. Especially with her being so young - it will definitely rock the boat she and her mother share. Is this part of her personality or values?

When thinking about her style - you say that it will deviate from the norm - think about the purpose. What do you wish for it to say about her? Elegant and refined? Childish? Dark? Artistic? I suppose when we deal with rebellion we see a lot of the opposite of what is accepted.

The story is in two pieces, really. It starts with Nikki as Nicole Monroe, a grown woman talking to her daughter before the daughter heads to college. Then she tells Claire (the daughter) the story of when Nicole met Claire's dad, Matt, as a teenager. Therefore, there are little bits where Nicole is talking to Claire, but the main pieces are actually Nikki's story.

One main point of the story is the relationship between mothers and daughters, because Claire has the same rebellious spirit that Nikki had at sixteen. The other point is the struggle of teen pregnancy, with points on abortion and Jesus Christ's saving grace. The storyline's not really very original - could be any pregnant teenager's story, except Matt's a little older than usual and they end up getting married and raising Claire in an apartment down the road from Nicole's parents. The focus is more on life and struggling and teen pregnancy and relationships than a situation or character or other world.

Nikki isn't really what most people would consider athletic, but she gives that impression. She loves ballet specifically, not just dancing, which gives a glimpse into the fact that she's not quite the tough, rebellious girl she pretends to be. She gets a small salary from it - enough to pay for a cell phone, but not much more.

The wall between Nikki and her mother actually comes from a tiny spat in a clothing store about a dress Nikki refused to wear. She was twelve at the time, and since then, her resentment has grown. She tells her best friend, however, that she sometimes wishes she got along better with her mom. At the end of the story, she ends up growing much closer to her mother because of baby Claire and Nikki's dependence on her mom while raising her new child.

I see her wearing things like too-tight tees, jeggings, skinny jeans, and such like. However, she wears this to make a point - her taste, if uninfluenced by her rebellion, would probably be more laid-back and relaxed, and slightly atheletic, like you said. Old Navy stuff, denim capris, flip-flops, etc.
