Trying to get my daughter enrolled in school
My exwife is having problems with our daughter. She is now giving her to me and I tried today to enroll her in school. It is out of state from her mom. Her mom has custody and is willing to let me have her but the school will not let me enroll her since I don't have custody. Is this not denying a child an education? What can I do quickly to remedy this? The school office said I would have to a judge signed custody agreement. Is there anyway around this to keep her from missing so much school?

Nope. The school doesn't not know if you have illegal custody. Whenever you change custody, you have to have the court ratify it. You should have done this before trying to enroll her.

Thanks. I guess we are just suppose to know these things. It's not my fault that her mom is the way she is. I'm trying to do what's best for her and we get punished for this. Her mom is willing sign whatever it takes but that does take time. For future reference you could learn a little compassion. You didn't answer anything and I understand the schools response just can't believe there is nothing to do, it's like this has never happened before. Again thanks for everything which was nothing!

First, may I call your attention to the guidelines for using the comments feature found here:

    https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/feedba...ure-24951.html

This is a legal forum and answers here have to conform to established law. My reply was indeed helpful because it told you you need to get the change approved by the court. What else did you expect?

Maybe you should do your research before you try something. Like you should have researched how to properly use a site like this, instead of appearing like an ungrateful lout by giving me a negative rating because I gave you a factual answer, just not what you wanted to hear.

Sorry. Yes you did answer my question. "nope" that would have been enough. You simply went on to tell me the same things I already knew. Time unfortunately was not on our side. I simply wanted to know if there was a way to get her in school while waiting for the proper court ratified custody.

I guess how did the school know you did not have custody ?

When you went to the office and said I want to enroll my daughter, and have her records transferred,

I guess no one ever asked me, do you have custody of this child.?

Have mom come to school and enroll them for now, if they already know

The only ones who can answer that is the school. It is their rules you have to abide by.
