Rules for convicted Child molesters
We have a registered sex offender in our area that I know and he was convicted rightly so of attempted molestation of a minor. He has served his time and is now living back with his family. My concern is that today he goes out of his way to be involved with minors. Today he has taken a group of minors out of the state to a Hockey game. I always thought that once you were convicted of such a crime that being alone with other peoples kids was a no no, am I wrong

First ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.
Second, What organization sponsored this hockey trip? Was he the only chaperone? Make sure that organization is aware of his status. If they are then mind your own business. I'm sure they are monitoring him closely. A lot depends on the level of sex offender. Some levels are rated as unlikely to repeat and he may fall in that category.

His offense occurred in AZ he now lives in NM. This not a sponsored trip by any organization. These are kids that he has come in contact with through our church and the church has monitored him and asked him not to do this but he refuses to obide

Where are the kids parents? This guy took minors out of state without parental permission? Then gather all the parents involved and go to the police IMMEDIATELY. They will know if this is a violation of his sex offender status. Even if he is not a sex offender, taking children out of state without parental permission is a questionably legal action.

It's my understanding that the parents are aware they went with him. Not sure if they are all aware of his past. I'm a little confused myself how this came to be

I do know he is reisgistered with the Sex offender registry. I guess I'm confused as I assumed that since he is a registered sex offender that traveling with youth would be against the law

Hello w:
I've got a couple questions.
If he did this with your church, how is it that YOU know he's a sex offender, but the church authorities don't? Plus, if they asked a sex offender NOT to take their children out of state, and the sex offender IGNORED them, how come the police weren't called?

What is legal or illegal for him to do depends on the terms of his release. So I agree with excon, Why aren't you just talking to the police? They will know what is legal or illegal for him to do.

So why is the church allowing it, most have rules and he refuses to follow, they should be kicking him out of the church, if he will not follow their rules
