    Moving expense deduction
    Hello,

1- I am on H1B and is a resident alien for tax purposes.

2- I was working for a company in LA till May 2010. Then I moved to NY in June and kept working for the same company remotely from home; my job is still based in LA.

3- Can I deduct my moving expenses from LA to NY (e.g. air tickets, moving household goods, etc.) as relocation expenses?

    Best,
    SN

No, you can not deduct the expense unless the move was job-related. It sounds ike you could have stayed in LA and still worked for this company, so your move was not job related. Hence you may not deduct any of its costs.
