I've known my friend since kindergarten and in high school we devloped a really close friendship that would grow apart for a while then really close again. He would come to my house all the time, ask for break up advice and things like that. Talked about life, got to know each other really well. Anyway, now he's asked me to have sex with him out of the blue. He was very respectful and mature about the subject. I don't know what to do. I told him it could go really bad or turn into a relationship. He said he would be mature enough to handle any of those circumstances. Does this mean he'd look forward to it turning into a relationship or does he no longer care for the friendship. I don't know what is going on, what to think, or do. I'm so confused and totally need some friendly advice or a different perspective. I did not feel offended over it or anything at all but confusion. He mentioned he's comfortable around me and completely respects my decision. Will I develop emotional baggage even though the terms are not to? HELP!!

Yes, you'll probably develop emotional baggage over having sex with him, mostly because you already like him as a long-time friend. Having sex is the most intimate thing you can do with another person, so you won't be able to walk away easily and without wondering what could have been. Plus, you'd be giving away your most valuable possession much too readily and for what reason?
