My Ex is tearing me apart
My ex & I dated for a year, but we've been on and off for 2 1/2 years. It was mutual when we broke up, we didn't like the commitment, we wanted to be single and live our life. We didn't want each other to be our first & our last. Once we broke up we still were technically together. Every once in a while we stop talking and completely separate ourselves until one of us realizes it's almost impossible to move on. Him and I have been with other people, we haven't dated anyone but we did 'talk' to people, sleep with other people, and almost had relationships with others but one of us always gets in the way. It seems we are always comparing new people to each other. It seems impossible to move on. Of course when my ex wanted me back I was about to date someone, I did like the person, but I also wanted to show my ex I could be just fine without him, and a week later I stopped talking to the person and went back to my ex, he was heartbroken (my ex) and has held it against me for a year. He talks to others girls to get back and me and said I lost my chance but every time I leave, he begs me to come back when he realizes there is no one else for him. I have always been very understanding to him and I've tried to move on and haven't seen many worth my time. I let him talk to other girls, I let him do what he wants but maybe I'm being too nice. I need to know what to do, should I let go, or keep hanging on.

This sounds like a very toxic relationship. Nothing good, or permanent, will come of this.

You need to separate yourself from him completely. No texts, no Facebook, no phone calls. The two of you need to go completely no contact in order to heal and move on.

Agree, after 5 or 6 months of no contact at all, you should look back at it a lot differently

Either go no contact or make a commitment to be together! If you keep doing what you are doing now you will just end up hating each other.

You have never really broken up, just take breaks from each other. Until one of you lets go, and refuses to go back, this will continue. Let go, completely, and do NO Contact correctly, and disappear from his life.
