Does he have a case against me?
I moved to KY after my ex boyfriend got stationed there. I left my family, my job and my home because he asked me to. 3 months later he decided to break up with me and kick me and my 9 year old out of his house. He gave me a check for 3200 to help me move out and re-buy furniture. The furniture that I had, I got rid of because he told me not to move anything into his house that he already had. So I got rid of my bed, couch washer and dryer. I got rid of all of my kitchen wares and linens. I paid for the move to his house on my own and when we lived together I paid the bills he would let me pay. Now, the check he wrote had nothing on it saying that it was a loan or a gift but I understood it to be a gift. Now he is harassing the hell out of me wanting to take me to court to get his money back. I was under the impression that when he gave me the money it was because he felt bad about asking me to give up my life to come be with him and because he felt guilty because of the girlfriend he had on the side, which was his pregnant wife 3 weeks after he broke up with me. I know he has the right to take me to court for anything he wants, but does he have a case? I never signed anything saying I would pay him back and I never conveyed to him that I would pay him back.

Most likely not, in this case there is nothing in writing, so it will be your word against his word (? Ever watch Judge Judy on TV) but he will most likely file in small claims court, you go tell your story, he tells his story and then the judge figures out who they believe based on any evidence they may have.

Opinion, he does not have a good case, and is trying to control you, My opinion and that is all it is, stop any contact with him, tell him to stop bothering you. You stop answering his phone calls, don't allow him a chance to make hisself feel better.

So if he sues, you defend yourself, and see what happens,
Worst case, he wins, and then he has to try and collect,
