    Dap Out Overflowing
My Dap out under my jacuzzi is overflowing with water. I live in Houston where we have a high water table and it has been raining quite a bit. The Dap out has dirt in the bottom, should I fill it with Roofing tar or some other substance?

The only dap out that we leave open is the tub dap out and then we pourroof cement in it it if the builder wishes. If there is no leak I would cover the open ground with cement or roof cement if only to keep bugs and critters out. Good luck, Tom

If you run a search on "dap out" on these boards, you'll see some info in other posts about filling the hole. One idea is to fill it with expanding foam to seal it with a mold resistant substance, and still provide a way for a plumber to access the pipe, should that become necessary, such as a clog or leak. Filling and surrounding the pipes with cement would cause much work to access the area in the future, if needed.

    Hey LAw183

Do you have a sump pump in your house? If you don't, then you should! I mean, if high water table AND you are getting water coming up and out the tub dapout... I say you don't need to fill it as much as you should probably drop a sump pit and sump pump in an unfinished area in case you get a really big storm one year and your whole place floods!

I don't know... just thinking aloud for you. Check out this site for pumps, battery back up pumps and basins. Hope this helped.

Zoeller Pump Company ...manufacturer of submersible sump pumps for dewatering, effluent, sewage and grinder applications, home improvement products, and pump sizing software.
