Is this H.G well's book "The Time Machine"?
What I can remember about the book is it starts with a rather rich man and his plans to merry. After having dinner with his fiance's family, he goes home and is put under hypnoses since he has trouble falling a sleep on his own. His room is a sealed underground room, and that night his house burns down in a fire and he isn't found until the year 2000. Once he wakes up he explores the now modern Boston. He visits a factory, and the store and later gets a job in giving lectures on the era his is from.

If it's not "The Time Machine" then what book is it please... I never got to finish it. Thanks for your help.
