It refers to a huge land mass, basically everything east of Europe all the way to Siberia and south to the islands of Maylasia, Philippines, Japan, etc. More than half the world's people. China and India and Russia are the big ones. But as far as peoples, many people refer to Asians these days as the group formerly called Oriental, from the southern countries. It's a vague word.
