We are about to start a whole-house remodel. The master bathroom will be taken back to the studs. I want to move the toilet from one side of the room to the other. As it stands now, the toilet is near the left wall, the shower is in the middle, and the tub is near the right wall. The tub will go in the middle. I'd like to put the shower near the left wall and the toilet near the right wall. A distance of about 6 feet. One contractor said, 'it's very expensive to move a toilet'. Define 'expensive'; are we talking a couple of hundred dollars, or a couple of thousand dollars?

I would think you should ask him what he means. To do what you want most of your drains need to be moved so I would think tossong in the toilet would add about $500 but without blue prints and your design is a shot in the dark. Just ask him to bid it the way you want it done without his commentary. Then ask 2 other contractors to bid the same specs.

What is under that room, what major changes may have to be made to the drains and piping under the floor. If this is a concrete slab floor, the entire floor would have to come out and it would be 1000's extra, But most major bathroom remodels are in the upper 1000's anyway
