Ok my 1989 Plymouth voyager is having problems when I press the gas.. I have changed my fuel filter recentlly and just changed spark plugs and TPS ( due to advice from a mechanic).. it still stalls if I press gas down to hard.. I have to slowly press it to move steady.. any ideas??

. Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil, if they have not been changed in the last 120,000 miles or 10 years. The ICM is the likely culprit.

. Ensure you only use the same Champion spark plugs that originally came in the vehicle.

Ok I will replace them.. where are they at? Is the ICM In my computer??

The ICM is inside the distributor; the coil is external. I believe distributor access should be easy on your Voyager.

Conceptually, the ICM is a large output transistor (switch) controlling current through the primary coil. ICMs replace points and condenser in older vehicles. In the primary coil, current builds to 5 to 12 amps, generating lots of heat (due to inductance). Then, the ECM controls when the ICM "switches off" current to the primary coil, causing amperage to go to zero. When this happens, 12 to 14 volts in the primary coil is "stepped-up" to 30,000 volts in the secondary coil. This process creates a type of alternating current required for the coil (step-up transformer) to work. In a properly working ICM, timing is precisely when needed to fire each spark plug.

Bottom Line: ICMs and coils take a beating.

OK new update... I brought it to Goodyear and they told me my head gasket was blown so I had a friend do all the labor of putting a new one in along with all the other gaskets that come in the kit. Has more power but still doesn't accelerate cleanly

You may want to remove the spark plugs and check each cylinder's compression (dry and wet). If the vehicle ever overheated, the aluminum head may have warped. They should be machined, and valves inspected for damage, prior to installing a new head gasket.

How many miles?

175k miles on it. Ive already replace the head gasket. So I hope I don't have to go through all that again
