Car won't jump or bump start!
Car cut out and can't be restarted. Battery is full windows light and wipers all working fine. But no sound from the started motor or the noraml clicking you would get from a flatted battery.
So I was thinking that the starter motor has gone but that wouldn't explain why it cut out on me and died and it also can't explain why I can't bump start it. Its an old petrol ford galaxy and has been running very well. Any help would be greatly received. Cheers

. Remove and fully charge the battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. Windows, lights, and windows working are not sufficient tests that the battery is good. My bet is the battery is bad.

. Test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

. Perform the tests below, if the car still doesn't start:

    Car electrics
Car cut out today and wouldntnt start. I still had lights and wipers etc. but the car would not turn over, jump or bump start. I didn't think that it was a battery problem but have since been told that that is the most likely problem. After charging the for a short while now when I turn the ignition I can hear the solenoid cicking but the car still won't turn over. But even more strange my windows keep winding themselves down on their own and the internal clock back light is intermitant wipers shaking. Does any one have any ideas?

You need to FULLY charge, or replace, the battery. Charging it for a little while won't cut it. You need to completely remove this variable from the equation.

The odds are extremely high that a new battery will solve your problem. Your battery is toast.

New Battery but car still won't start without a jump [ 10 Answers ]

I replaced the battery in my car but when I went to start it it still wouldn't start. So I have to jump it to get it to going and then it's okay. Why would this be going on? It seems to run okay other than that. Do I need to replace the jumpter cables that attach to the battery?
