Slow My Documents - Windows XP
When I open My Documents (or click "attach for an email), it takes approx 40 seconds to load up folders before I can click through them. Most of the time, after the initial long wait, I can click through no problem, though sometimes I get another long load after a few folder clicks.

It does not seem to be a slow frag / spyware issue. While I wait for the document folder, I can listen to Pandora, surf the web, work in other programs, etc. I used to be mapped to a network My Documents; I remapped to the local C drive but this did not solve the problem. It feels like the My Documents is doing too much when it opens, if that makes any sense. If I could just talk to it, I would say "Please only look in my C drive for My Documents." Any suggestions?

Thank you Curlyben, but I did all those steps prior to asking this question.
