Pink Floyd wins one against the big guys
I was thrilled to hear this yesterday:
EMI reaches a five-year deal with Pink Floyd after lawsuit | City A.M.
The only thing that would thrill me more would be for the guys to get together to release some old stuff that they all (including, of course, Roger Waters) agree to release some of the stuff that they did prior to The Final Cut.

Wish you were here is my favorite. The Wall was awesome, but as for a "final" album from any band, I'll call "The Final Cut" as the Best of the Best.

This is great news, for a band that I feel is so misunderstood. If only somehow I could get people to just listen to all of their music, they may understand the messages and enjoy the music. Each track is downright precise and in my opinion, scientifically written and played.
Even the live performances are done in such a fashion to mimic and preserve the integrity of the studio cut.
Needless to say, I am their #1 fan, see my avatar? There is not enough space to list my favorites. Wish you Were Here is so emotional. Recently saw the Australian Pink Floyd Show, and it brought tingles and tears to hear that song with the entire audience singing along.
Several of their songs are just about the nonsense they put up with as musicians and dealing with the music industry, Welcome to the Machine is one that pops in my head.
Perhaps, someday soon, Dave and Roger will meet halfway, Roger will get off his high horse, and do at least one more reunion, just for the sake of that. Nick is ready, but the two aforementioned must bury the hatchet. They have gotten together recently ,but for very limited sets and only certain venues.
RIP- Rick Wright-Born July 28, 1943- More Music Died on September 15, 2008.
For a guy that did not know how to read or write music, he sure knew his way around a keyboard.
I was even, just the other day, able to convince my 32 year old daughter, who plans to marry another woman soon, to play On the Turning Away at their wedding. Once she read the lyrics and she understood the message, she got it.
Sorry for the rambling, this is one of my few passions.
Thanks for the post, RickJ. If there is ever a Pink Floyd forum, sign me up as the expert.

I saw them Twice in Italy... Once at the televised Concert on the Gran Canal in Venice, the other a Soccor Stadion in their Momentarly lapse of reason tour... or damn, was that the learning to fly, whichever was the newest. Heck that was over 20 years ago.

I only got to see them once. Unfortunately it was after Roger Waters left the band. It was 1986 in Ohio Stadium. Even though Roger Waters was not there, it was a thrill to be with 90,000 other fans together.
Pink Floyd without Roger Waters is almost like the Beatles without John Lennon, Yes without Jon Anderson, Crazy Horse without Neil Young or the Heartbreakers without Tom Petty.

Well, both times I saw them was well after 1986... more like 1990 more or less... I would have to look up some stuff to get it more specific... wasn't a priority on my list of things to remember. Like you, was still a great show compared to a lot of other groups... but I have no reference to compare to Pre- Rojer Waters leaving. THe only early concert stuff I've seen is the Pompeii video I have. But watching it on TV is nothing like being there.

That's what Google had for the date it HAD to have been "Brain Damage" but the tour t-shirts didn't have that on them, they had A Momentary lapse of reason, and had the European Tour dates and cities... I Still have the T-shirt.

I didn't get a T-shirt. All I got was a hangover and the right to say that I saw them live. Thankfully I lived walking distance from the stadium :)
I also remember with fondness that it was the first date that I had with the wonderful woman that became my fiancé a few months later - and my wife the next year. :)

I know it's a slightly weird question, but a lot of guys are like, "Why don't you tan? Have you tried tanning? Do you like being pale?" Etc. I'm wondering if they ask it because they think I'm ugly. But then on the other hand I have 29 year old guys asking me out... and they are CUTE. So I'm...
