    Can't get wall sockets to work after installing ceiling fan?
    Just installed a ceiling van, connected black/blue from fan to black in ceiling, white from fan to 2nd black in ceiling, 2 white are capped, 2 red are capped, I have two single switches that control power to the fan & light, this works, but two wall sockets and oven hood do not, any ideas what I did wrong?I have tried many configurations, very risky, but all have ended in circuit overloads. Sockets were working before replacing the fan. Replaced the sockets and the one switch which controls the light over the sink (forgot this one).

    Any reccolection as to how it was wired before you did your installation? I'm guessing the outlets were fed from the ceiling box and you somehow disconnected it when you put the fan in.

    You will probably need to pull out the outlets (power to the fan circuit off) and trace wiring with a meter. I'm curious as to why you connected a white wire to a black wire? Sounds like you didn't pay attention to how things were connected before you started disconnecting. You are going to need onsite help with this issue.

    Wow, this is so messed up it is almost scary. Sorry, but it is true.

    How was the old fixture connected?
    WHY did you connect the white from the fan to a black in the ceiling?
    WHY did you separate the two blacks in the ceiling? Or were they already? I suspect the two ceiling blacks are feeds and this is why the other items don't work any more.
    Do you have a tester to check for voltage and continuity? Or are you just trying different things and letting the breaker trip if it is a dead short?

    From the way you have it wired you may be best served paying an electrician a service call to come and wire it right and check out what you have there. I am worried that you might have done some damage by shorting it out so many times.

    If you can take a picture of the ceiling box, and the wall box with the switches pulled out (but still connected) that would help a ton.

    "Switchloop" White retasked to carry power to switch.

    I know about switch loops... but it should have been indicated on the wire in some way... black marker to "color" the wire, or plain old black electricians tape.
