I recently had a thermal expansion tank installed and ever since then I have noticed that when I run water in one part of the house a toilet will run in another part of the house, in other words I get a chain reaction. This did not happen prior to installation of tank. I called the plumber that put it in and he said it would have nothing to do with what he did, my toilets all have new parts and they don't keep running , will just run for a minute and shut off. What do you think?

My Guess is that one of the toilet flappers is defective and needs to be replaced, so I guess I'm going to agree with the plumber at this point... pure coincidence... ;)

To test this put say 10-12 drops of a dark food coloring in the toilet TANK and leave the toilet alone for an hour or so. If, when you return, the food coloring is in the toilet BOWL you know the flapper is defective and needs to be replaced.

Just did what your recommended and the water in the bowl turned green(food coloring). So I just need to get a new flapper then? Thanks for your help.

YUP! A new flapper should do the job.

Take the old flapper with you and get an exact replacement if possible. You may even need to bring the flapper to a plumbing supply store to get the best match... ;) If the flapper fails to fix the issue then the whole flush valve assembly will need to be replaced, but in most cases, especially this being a newer toilet, this isn't necessary, OK?

Having replaced all the parts, it should be as easy as swapping out the flapper... ;)

Simply put, they don't make anything to last more than a few years nowadays!
