Sprinkler System -- Air in line
I just cleaned my filter on my sprinkler (I have done that many times in the past). But this time when I turned on the sprinkler system the filter chamber does not totally fill up with water. There is an air bubble which in turns make the entire system weak.

I tried taking the fill cap off the pump to see if it was full and it was.
I tried poking the value that prevents the pump to drain back into the well and it seems OK.
I have the well value wide open.

Do I have to bleed the system and if so how do I do that?

Is the filter on the suction side? If so, the slightest leak will let air in and reduce flow. You may need a new O-ring.

Not knowing the type of filter you have I would remove the cartridge and let the filter housing fill with water. Then I would replace the cartridge. And see if that works. As for "bleeding" the system. Since the sprinkler heads are open and can not trap air, every time you turn the system on it should bleed the air out of the lines. To expand on Labman. If the filter's on the suction line change it over to the discharge side.
    Cheers, Tom
