    There are many different types of scholarships. It really depends on what you are good at and where your interests are. For an academic scholarship, you'll need top grades and doing well on your SAT's will help. If you are really good at sports, you can try for a sports scholarship but it is difficult to get a scholarship to play collegiate sports. There are scholarships given for people who are very active in volunteer work. There are scholarships geared towards certain fields of study. There are even scholarships based on where your parents or other family members attended college.

    A good place to start is talking to your guidance counselor. You can also go online and research scholarships. You can go to the websites of the colleges you plan to apply to and some will have scholarship info. You might also look for grants and financial need scholarships.

    Fastweb : Scholarships, Financial Aid, Student Loans and Colleges this website can help you find tons of scholarships. If you Google scholarships you'll get tons of results but this one I've used myself. Are you in the US? If so, definitely fill out the fafsa.

    There are scholarships for nearly anything that are offered by nearly anyone. Just be persistent in your search (Fastweb) and you'll be bound to get some money eventually.
