What is the height off the stairs to place a wall sconce
I have an electrician asking me at what height off the stair do I want to place my wall sconces for my stairway. Is there a required height?

Not sure I have heard of a requirement, beyond out of a child's reach... other than that its what looks best. You don't want them low enough to bump into them... but you don't want them so high you need an extension ladder to replace a bulb when they burn out.

The sconces are actually in the stairway?
I don't like that idea at all.

The guy is an electrician? Can't he help you with placement?

    There's no required height.
I agree about bumping but think it's OK as long as they are low profile, no more than 3-4" out from the wall.
Just wait until you are trying to move large furniture up or down the stairs.
I'd put the base of the unit at 6' or a bit higher, even though that's not going to help much with furniture.
