    Receding gums
Hi every one my name is Claire and I am 22.
I do smoke occasionally and eat a lot of accidic food. I do brush regularly but lately I have been noticing problems.
Im just browsing for info on receding gums because I have noticed my gums are not the best!
They have not been bleeding but have done in the past.
Lately I have noticed obvious signs that my teeth are becoming bigger/longer and at the top of some teeth are sparkling white (where I'm guessing gum used to be) because the rest of the tooth is off colour.
I used to have braces and in the past few years my teeth have moved. They are still straight just not as perfect as when I got my braces off.
I have had problems with enamel chipping away so I started using sensodyne pronamal and if I can't use that I would use any colgate tooth paste that is usually in the house.
I have recently started using sensodyne gum protection, which kind of stings my gums and lately it hurts to brush.
When I look at my teeth after brushing I can see my gums are not smoothly in line with the top of my teeth and feel sesetive and look rough lik some little chips have been taken from my gums.
Some times my teeth even feel a big creeky/loose. This is making me worry that my teeth will soon fall out.
Any tips on what brands are the best for both enamal and gums?
And also can this be fixed and permanently be stopped?

Gingivitis (bacterial placque) has turned into periodontitis when your teeth start to wiggle. No toothpaste is going to help, and never would have. You have to floss and use a tiny brush between the teeth and have your teeth cleaned below the gumline. At this stage you could have a gingivectomy, where your gums are scraped down and regrow (I know it sounds awful but a lot of people do it). Smoking makes it all worse.

    Claire,
I agree with some of what joypulv has said. First, please stop smoking. (I know... easier said then done!) Second, try a sonicare toothbrush. It really helps with your gums. And third, you need to get into a DDS for a checkup. (you didn't say you had been to one, so guessing you have not been)
    GOOD LUCK!
