He has want to be a police officer since he was three and that is all he talks about. I wasn't sure what things to get him involved with to help with this. He's 10.

And in what country, being a police officer in Iran, may require different skills than one in the US and perhaps one in Canada.
But to be on the better track, They merely finish high school, staying in good physcial condition.
Then often a 4 year tour of duty in the military while taking college classes, Being prior service often helps get you better promotions and even hired.
You need a 4 year college degree to really be considered in the better departments and for sure when it comes to promotions. And better pay.
I would say that a degree in management or even science may be better than a criminal justice degree, and honestly they don't care what degree, as long as it is a degree.
And of course stay physcially fit, be able to run.
And beyond that, no criminal history, no shop lifting, no arrests.

At the age he is now, you want to sharpen his mind and strengthen his memory. Play games with him -- Concentration (matching playing cards or picture tiles that you've turned upside down on the floor or a table), jigsaw puzzles, simple crossword puzzles, board games like Clue or Parcheesi or Racko, card games like Uno or War, storytelling, guessing games at the dinner table, ABC games while driving, and especially reading to and with you from books you two get from the library. Let him help you make grocery lists and do the grocery shopping, while talking about brand names, nutrition labels, prices, weights and sizes. Always keep him thinking, writing, reading. (The children's department at your library has bunches of books that will give you more ideas.)

And at 10, don't worry about it, most likely he will want to be a dozen of other things before he gets out of even high school.
And at 10, a parent needs not to get too over involved in the whims of the child, since their focus changes often. Just prepare them for life in general.
*** and also after reading your other posts I believe this is the child not the parent, questions and responses just don't seem to be at adult level, ** sorry my opinoin

Sorry you feel that way I guess not everyone can live up to your high standards. I AM a great parent! Just because I am not an expert at all subjects does not mean that I am childish. Maybe you should become an expert in manners!

Hello m:
Tell him how much safer he'll be if he decides to be a school teacher... Tell him about the money he'll make as an investment banker... Tell him about the women he'll get if he's rock star.
