    Or forget that silly tradition where the brides parent(s) pay for everything and do it yourself.

    Wow, wish my parents were paying for our wedding. We are paying for everything ourselves.

    Just means we are having a small wedding with family and a few friends.
    You can't buy what you can't afford so just downscale.

    As I note I do many weddings each month, seldom is the brides parents paying for weddings any longer,

    Normally the couple pays for their own weddings, and often they are settling for a much smaller wedding
