    Criminal Offence.
I was 17 and stole $40 worth of stuff from winners. It was really stupid of me and I regret the whole thing. The police were called and it was noted that I had tried to steal. Now I'm 18 and looking for a new job. Will this incident be on my criminal Record still..

This happened when you were technically a juvenile. It should now be closed under the juvenile records and not reflected on your background. It also depends on just who is doing a criminal background check on you - if it's private then it should not show up - if it's for say the state or county it may show up as an incident but not a conviction.

The best way to be clear is to go to the courthouse that handled it and request a copy of your record and ask while there if it will show up on a background check. There are factors such juvenile status and how far the charges got.

Employers can ask if you have been convicted, not arrested.
