Is it too late to sue a person who stole $35,000.
Approximately 4 1/2 years ago, our contractors helper stole my jewelry worth approximately $35,000. The jewelry was not insured and the helper "skipped town". The contractor was moving to the U.S. so he had cancelled his insurance. He has returned to Ontario now and he has started the company back up. Can I sue his company now?

    Hello gail:

The only question is whether the statute of limitations has run out. I can't help you with that, except to say that I think it's 5 years... But, you can certainly get the straight dope from a local lawyer. You're going to need one to file suit, anyway. If the statute has elapsed, he'll tell you and won't charge you for the visit.
