    Abs toilet flange-integral test cap removal.
    Hi
    i'm looking for recommendations on how best to remove the integral test cap from my abs toilet flanges. I was intending to drill them out using a hole saw bit of the appropriate size.
    Flanges are installed & glued to drain line. Plumbing rough-in is approved and has been air pressure tested. Time to remove the test caps & install the toilets.

    NO NEED FOR CAPS, we may be old but can still see. Most pressure caps are very thin and easily broken out. You can drill a hole in the cap and then run a jig saw or a stab saw to cut it out.

    YEAH! LoSE THE CAPS! We don't yell at each other in here.
    Ma064 nailed it, Test membranes are very thin. I Just take a pocket knife and cut them out.

    Hi all...

    The ABS closet flange with test cap (see image) has a particularly thick and brittle test cap that can crack the flange if you actually remove the "knock out test cap" using a hammer/knife like you can for all the other test caps!

    Rondog62, I'd use a sawzall with a metal blade or even a rotozip tool to cut a cross pattern, or star pattern (see image) in the test cap and then wiggle the pieces to remove them. As Tom said, don't drop any of the pieces into the drain pipe.. ;)
