    Starter question
I have a Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.3 SE. Sometimes when you go to start it it will crank a couple of times before it starts. I took it over to the local parts store and had them do their free check and it started right up tried again same thing started right up. What would be the cause of it not starting right up all the time but cranking some times and starting difficultly.

. Remove and fully charge, or replace, the battery. Most auto parts stores will charge batteries for free.

. Clean battery terminals and connections. Read the link below:

. Replace the spark plugs, if the starter motor cranks but the engine does not start right up. Only use the same Champion plugs that came in the vehicle. Be sure and replace the plugs in the rear.

. Start using SAE 5W-30 full synthetic engine oil (e.g. Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum). Change oil and filter every 6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. Engines start much easier with synthetics, especially in the winter. Additionally, synthetics are easier on the starter motor and battery.

Try narrowing down the conditions when you get the no-start.
Is it after the car sits for a long time? Like overnight cold?
Does it not start when hot? You could have an intermittent open circuit.
It would also be good to know if when it's giving you grief, are you losing spark or fuel?

Its not that it will not start it is that it will crank longer at times to start. This car has been a problem with fuel pumps. Two fuel pumps. Trouble pin pointing problem. Mechanic said no way in past. Not sure now? Mechanic current did fuel pump.

The vehicle's fuel pressure may be bleeding off while the car sits.
What brand fuel pumps have you put in? Two of the same?
Has the fault been verified as the fuel pump? Fuel pressure tested?

Have that EGR code diagnosed and repaired. If the EGR is hanging open, that can cause an extended crank by diluting the air-fuel mixture going into the engine.
