What if Bosses and Company directors start teasing you about you being quiet?
Everybody in my company is loud and talkative. Those that can't stop talking.
I"m the only one who is different. But i do my work and that's what i've been doing for long. They like the fact that i accomplish alot. but although before, it was mostly coworkers that said "why don't you talk?" "why you so quiet" "come on say something" etc

Now I'm getting it from Higher up people. Some of the directors come up to me and say stuff about how I'm so quiet.
Nobody seems to accept me. They think I'm weird cause I don't talk.

Does this mean, I will lose my job. Just cause I don't talk? I've never talked in my life, I'm just quiet. But it's my personality, I don't have like others, the impulse to say outloud everything I'm thinking . So why do they think everytone has to be the same.

    I'm male early 30s

I'm guessing the directors are talking to you not because you are quiet, but because you are asocial.

Did you enjoy playing sports when you were younger?

Many corporations want people to be part of the "group" in fact many spend 1000's of training programs to make you a "team" player.

So can they fire you for not talking, not for being quiet but for not being a team player.

But I do my work. I don't talk but if I need to call or take a call or help someone, I do it. Just aside from that, I'm not telling jokes and all that. I'm just quiet. I don't have impulse to talk at all. And I don't like to tell about my private life. For example these annoying coworker women who used to work beside me just keep joking around and talking about their kids and calling their boyfriends, and nagging about men( cause some of them are single mothers )...

I'm just an artist, I like to create stuff, I like computers. And I like to concentrate and not talk. Which actually helps them a lot. I finish tons of work that before I was there, not even half of it was done. Now I finish a bunch in one day so that's why wer'e always caught up.

I've been like this since I was 6. Not a talker ever. Plus I have speech issues. So speaking is not something that I have impulse to do. My brain is blank almost always.. when I work I just concentrate.
    What's wrong with that?

Cozo, I don't think that their issue with you is that you're quiet. I have to agree with WG, it sounds like your antisocial, or asocial. You don't get on well with others. From the way you are here, the way you write and talk, I can imagine that having a conversation with you would be very frustrating. You don't seem to know how to be a social person.

That's not because you're quiet. There are quiet people that are very social people. They can get along with others. You don't seem to be able to do that.

No, being quiet shouldn't make you lose your job. But, not working well with others, not getting along with the people you work with, that can have a very negative impact on the people you work with, and therefore have a negative impact on the company.

Employers need team players, people that work well together improve the company. You aren't a team player, and that's worrisome.

Have you thought about counseling? Perhaps that would help you figure out why you can't seem to get along with the people in your life.

    1. About the sports question.
"Did you enjoy playing sports when you were younger? "
Team sports? No.. I played/exercised solo sports like jogging, weight training. Football was boring to me and I would ask if I could jog instead and the PE teacher would let me. I did gung fu too.

    2. Not working well with others?? I told you. When it's about work I do it . I worked in tech department in same company( they let me work there for a few months) before and we would have to call and communicated with various plalces and pass information to other coworkers. I did that successfully. I see that as teamwork. I just don't joke around and chitchat. If people ask me questions I answer and I'm nice.

Well but whatever, I guess if they don't like it they don't like it.

Thanks for answering my sports question.

I don't think it's a question of "they don't like it" when you're being quiet and to yourself. There's more going on here.

Do you hate loud noises like fireworks and in parades, and have a strong startle reflex?

Has anyone ever complained that you don't make good eye contact when you talk or are talked to?
