    GSD EARS
    Hello I asked about my 12 week old GSD she had very strong stood up ears for about 3 weeks then about 2 days ago they flopped is that a normal thing? An will they stand up again the only thing I change with her is I have now got her in a puppy cage and it seems since she has been in there her ears have flopped thanks

    Sometime stress can cause the ears to flop so the stress of being crate trained could do it.

    Another factor is teething although it is a bit early for that.

    I have a Chinese Crested, they also have prick ears and his were up and down for months before they finally set upright. They were taped for quite some time but once the tape came off they still flopped occasionally when he was very tired.

    You can add some vitamin C to your pups diet, it helps absorb calcium which is needed to make the cartilage in the ears harden.
    For smaller dogs I give calcium supplements, but you do have to be careful giving it to large, fast growing breeds.

    Your final option is taping the ears, this is non evasive and is not like cropping where they actually cut the ears.
    With taping all you are doing is keeping the ears in an upright position until they cartilage hardens.
