    Inheritance and green card
If I am a green card holder and I receive inheritance from my us citizen husband, do I have to pay taxes differently from a citizen? If so, why and what's different?

No citizens and green card holders are treated at par.
There is no federal inheritance tax in U.S.

What MukatA is trying to say is that green card holders are treated the same as U.S. citizens when it comes to all areas of taxation.

And to be clear - you do not owe any US federal or state taxes on the value of the property you inherited from your husband.

Typically, when both spouses are U.S. citizens and one spouse dies, all of the decedent's property can be transferred to the surviving spouse without any estate tax being imposed on the decedent's estate through the unlimited marital deduction. However, if the surviving spouse is not a U.S. citizen, the martial deduction is limited and estate tax may be imposed on the decendent's estate. If the decendent's will has the property transferred into a qualified domestic trust ("QDOT"), the U.S. taxation of the descendant can be deferred.
