Maytag dryer squeeked and now it's dead
For nearly a year, my maytag dryer would squeek periodically during a drying cycle. Last weekend, the squeek became constant and was coupled with a smell like burning rubber. Today, my dryer won't start. Is it something that can be repaired, or did I kill my 13 year old dryer?

Can you hear the motor turn when you push the start button? If not, the motor may be bad. If yes, the belt or tension pulley may have jammed and melted. You will need to remove the back of the dryer to see what's there. Some repairs are cheap and simple for a DIY'r, others are not worth the price for a 13 year old dryer.
