Can taxes be garnished for credit card debt
I live in Louisiana and recently my wages have been garnished due to a judgement against me for credit card debt. I am due a refund for my federal and state income taxes but if I file now, will my income taxes be garnished also?

Normally, your taxes will not be garnished for non-government debt. But as soon your refund amount is in your bank, it can be garnished.

Actually, the refund CAN be garnished for non-student debt, but the process is so time-consuming and so easy to defeat that most creditors do not bother.
