    I have an emertion tank I have removed old fireplace and found 2 lead pipes

    I have found two lead pipes behind fireplace as I was going to have an open fireplace logburning I started to remove lead pipes.water started to come out of one of the pipes I haven't touched the other pipe yet I also have old emertion tank upstairs of which I still use I'm not sure if these pipes are connected to the imertion tank have you any ideas thanks

    Hi Leeds...

    Does the immersion tank have any working pipes connected to it or is this a tank in use?

    Any lead pipes coming off or associated with the tank?

    Sounds like you have found some abandoned lines, but there could be residual water in the pipes. I'd check around the house and see if you can find anything from your existing and working pipes that connect onto older lead pipes... if so, you proceed cautiously. If no connections then I say you cut the pipe and see what happens... have access to the main water shutoff to the building... JUST IN CASE... ;)
