My cat eats when she is bored
My cat has recently started eating way more. We had some house guests with children this summer and they got stressed . I sleep in the basement so I would bring food down. Now the company is gone and so they also have food upstairs to eat . I give them soft food once a day one can to three cats. The one that eats too much is still active but is getting very heavy. She nibbles all the time and they all drink more water. They are use to being outside but now that it is colder they don't go out much. So I was wondering if cats eat when bored.

I would buy some fun indoor toys, well me and my cat always play with this red string that she loves. She gets all frisky and starts running all over the house. She gtes real good exercise. It also depends on how old is the cat, my 18 year old cat just sleeps and eats a lot all day, he's really heavy but that's also why he's lived so long.but if he doesn't play just let him be, he nows what he's doing.I guess you could go to the vet if you want.

Don't leave string for the cats to play with. They'll eat it and it will cause problems inside them.

Get several empty cardboard boxes that they can sit on or go inside of. Lay a couple of sheets of newspaper on the floor or carpet. Cats like to sit or lie on paper. Large catnip toys seems to go over big (not so much the small ones, for some reason).

We stopped leaving dry food out for our cats because they made pigs of themselves and ate it all at once. Now we give them dry food when we put out the canned stuff which we do only twice a day -- morning and evening. After a half hour, remove whatever might be left. Make sure there's always clean, fresh water available.
