Notice of Right to have exemptions designated.
I live in the state of NC and I have received a notice of right to have exemptions designated, does this mean they have won a case against me and do I have to fill this out or just ignore it?

    Hello w:

I don't know what exemptions they're talking about. I didn't know I had a right to have them designated, because I don't know what they are.

Please tell me WHAT this notice is CONNECTED to, or did you just receive it out of the blue?? Did the STATE send it you to?? WHO did send it you?? What did the letter say?

I was served from the Mecklenburg County Clerk back in Apr. for a credit card that I was not able to pay back in 2006. They wanted me to contact this lawyer office(judgement creditor), I did not contact them. So now I received this Notice of Right to Have Exemptions Designated and again was told to contact this lawyer office about this, but this was served to our home by the clerk office. This has bounced from one collection agency to another. This is saying to put a judgement against our property. I am thinking they are trying to scare us into contacting them to change the Statue of Limitations to start over on this. Don't want to contact because of this. Just getting concerned about this.

    Hello again, w:

You need to get a clear picture of what's going on. I understand you don't want to contact them, but it's not going to affect the statute of limitations. In fact, you say they WANT to put a judgment on you, but from the sound of the letter, they already HAVE a judgment on you. The exemptions they're probably talking about is the property you have that is exempt from seizure.

    I'd call them.
