    Forged quit claim deeds
My siblings and I inherited some farm property in Alabama. My older brother has always been the in charge person in our family. Last year I found some documents in Alabama public records that indicated he sold property in Alabama. I also found two quit-claim deeds that claimed my portion of the properties over to him and my signature on both of them has been forged. It is very easy to see that neither of the signatures are mine. I asked a paralegal to find as many documents as she could near the times in 2007 this took place and everything points to my brother selling the properties without telling me or giving any proceeds to me. What steps should I take? I know I should hire an attorney but I have found that real estate attorneys are very expensive and I don't have $5000 to lay out.Is what my brother did illegal if it can be proven that the quit-claim deeds are forged? Is there a time limit on when I can no longer take action? I hate being in a mess like this with my brother but I hate being taken by anyone either. The sale documents indicate transactions of over $200,000. Is there anywhere to get help without being looked down upon since I don't have enough to retain a lawyer?
    Sincerely,
    Karen

Forgery is a crime. Report it to the police. If the SOL on that crime has passed, then you will need to sue him for your share of the proceeds.
